Survey Vessel MARINER

‘Mariner’ is an 11.3 metre, stern trawler design, steel, survey vessel, offering a comfortable and quiet working environment. She has a good sized aft deck, scientific work space in wheelhouse and forward accommodation comprising a newly fitted galley and head. SV ‘Mariner’ is a very versatile vessel for inshore oceanographic, hydrographic and environmental surveys.

  • Displacement 20 tonnes

Engines & Propulsion: Gardner 6LX 180bhp diesel engine capable of 8 knots maximum, 7 knots cruising - single screw with Aquadrive coupling from gearbox to reduce shaft noise and vibration.

Deck equipment: Hydraulic winches up to 1 tonne capacity lift and trawl, A-frame and two derricks. She is capable of handling hydrographic and geophysics equipment, water samplers, fishing gear, seabed samplers such as grabs, corers and dredges, ADCPs, seabed moorings, diving teams, etc.

Power: Genacis Dolphin M6 generator, producing 5kW of continuous 220vAC power. Plus an additional 500W 220vAC inverter, and 12v and 24v power also available.

Communication / Navigation: Simrad CA42 combined chartplotter, DGPS and 50/200 kHz echosounder; Leica MX412B DGPS with recording capability; fluxgate compass or gyro; Simrad autopilot; radar; metfax and weather station; MRU and full survey management computer (optional). Fixed DSC VHF and portable VHF radios and Mobile telephone.

Safety equipment: Life raft (currently 8 man), SART, EPIRB, survival suits, life jackets, flares, life-rings and full First Aid kit (all crew are trained at first aid).

Operation: Crew are qualified to RYA/DoT Yachtmaster Offshore (commercial).‘Mariner’ is fully compliant with MCA workboat code of practice for work up to 60 nautical miles from a safe haven (category 2). With a home port at Shamrock Quay, Southampton, she is able to cover all UK inland and coastal waters, the Channel Islands and continental waters from Brest to Elbe up to 60NM from a safe haven.

‘Otarie’ is a Lochin 333 Harbour Pilot (built in 1999), offering a very comfortable and quiet working environment. She has a good sized aft deck, flybridge, scientific work space in wheelhouse and accommodation comprising a well  equipped galley, 3 full size berths and head.

Boat Dimensions:

  • Length Overall 10.1 m

  • Beam 3.7 m

  • Maximum Draught 1.14 m

  • Displacement 8.6 tonnes

Engines & Propulsion: 2 x Perkins Sabre M300Ti 300hp, 18 knots cruising (24 knots maximum) - twin screw with Aquadrive coupling from both gearboxs to reduce shaft noise and vibration.

Power: Genacis Dolphin M4 generator, producing 4kW of continuous 220vAC power. Plus an additional 600W pure sign-wave 230vAC inverter, and 12v and 24v power also available.

Communication / Navigation: Furuno combined chartplotter, radar, DGPS and 50/200 kHz echosounder; fluxgate compass; Furuno autopilot; MRU and full survey management computer (optional).
